Detailed Itinerary


Day 1

Arrive in Gulmarg

Welcome and check in to your Rooms at the hotel. In the evening we’ll run you through the program outline including goals and training objectives. Have dinner and retire for the night.

*Course fee doesn't include stay & meals. However, you can add these compopents under "Add ons" section while booking.

Day 2

Gear and safety information sessions
Morning Tea and then breakfast later meet key Ski & Snow Board School representatives and trainers and also collect your Snowboard and Shoes (though we recommend at this stage to have your own equipment). Today we’ll also hold gear and safety information sessions. Later move to Ski Slopes and will be a half day on the snow including a short lesson to refresh your ski/ snowboard skills learnt earlier and a chance to get your legs back into action. Back to Ski School for Dinner.

Day 3

Intermediate powder slopes
Today will be focused around you taking you to some intermediate powder slopes in a very controlled and safe way. We will be exploring the area near the Khongdori (Phase1), the jungle trails and some direct lines next to the Gondola lines.

Skiing on higher slopes, above Phase 1
The next 5 days will be focused at taking to the higher slopes and deeper powder. We shall spend these days on the chair car, which is above the Phase 1 and has a wider area of play on each sides. Our instructors will keep a keen eye on your technique and help you correct it wherever required.

Advance Skiing Course - Gulmarg is a level 6 adventure on the Bikat Rating Scale.

Since this is an advanced skiing course, completing the intermediate skiing course is mandatory to join this program.

In addition, skiing demands physical stamina. Each day, you will be actively skiing down slopes and climbing up while carrying your skis. A strong core and good fitness will help you keep up with the demands of this course.

It is beneficial to be physically prepared. As a benchmark, you should be able to jog 5 kms in under 35 minutes and 10kms in under 1 hour 10 minutes. This ensures that you have a certain level of cardiovascular fitness required for the course. Adding some resistance based workouts can ensure you complete the course comfortably and enjoyably.

The Advanced Skiing course is only for those who have already done a basic and an intermediate course in Skiing. It is for those adventurists and skiing enthusiasts who wish to take their skiing to the next level. It is best suited for people who already have basic skills in skiing and are comfortable with slightly higher slope gradients and now are looking at getting to the higher powder bowls of the mountain.

If you can Jog/Run for 5 kms in 30-35 mins, you are ready to take on this activity. Adding some resistance based workouts into this can ensure you complete the course comfortably and enjoyably.

If you cannot do the above, there’s no need to worry. It is important to remember that it’s all about practice. Get on a training schedule and we can assure you that you will meet these standards in a matter of a few months.

A basic skiing course and an intermediate skiing course must be completed in order to opt for the Advance Skiing Course.



The Advance Skiing Course is held in Gulmarg: a place that is fondly referred to as the Skiing Capital of India.

The stunning backdrop of Gulmarg; nestled amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Himalayan mountains, this place is straight out of a winter wonderland fairytale. Majestic peaks, glistening snow, and an atmosphere charged with adventure await you at every turn. With one of the highest ski lifts in the world and slopes that will leave you breathless, this is a playground where you can unleash your inner adrenaline junkie. Whether you're a complete beginner or have a bit of experience under your belt, Gulmarg has the perfect terrain to suit your skill level.

The weather conditions here can be unpredictable, the temperature goes down to -15 degrees; it may be challenging to adapt to the cold and stay warm while learning to ski. Maintaining balance and coordination while skiing can be another challenge for beginners. Skiing involves using muscles and movements that might be unfamiliar, leading to falls and difficulty in controlling speed. But these are all just part of learning and refining a new skill - nothing to lose sleep over!

The skiing course happens in the months of January to March when there is ample snow and the snow conditions provide perfect slopes for practising the sport.

During the course, you will be accommodated in hotels on a twin/triple sharing basis.

Daytime temperature varies from -4 to 2 degrees Celsius. During the night, the temperature can dip to -15 degrees Celsius but we stay in heated rooms to stay warm.

Skiing is a technical skill which involves handling equipment suited for the sport. However, the point of the course is exactly this - to get you comfortable with and provide practice using these technical gears.


To get to Srinagar: By Air: There are multiple flights daily directly from Delhi to Srinagar, or connecting flights from all major cities. By air is the easiest way to reach Srinagar.

By Rail: The National railway station to reach Srinagar is Jammu Tawi, from where Srinagar is 270 km away. Another railway station is Udhampur, from where Srinagar is 183 km away. There are multiple trains from Delhi and Chandigarh to Jammu Tawi. From Jammu, you can make the road journey to Srinagar either via private or state run buses or private taxi.

By Road: The road distance from Delhi to Srinagar is 800 kms if you are taking a taxi or driving down in a private vehicle. Direct buses to Srinagar are available from Jammu.

All major networks have coverage in Gulmarg. However, all outstation prepaid connections do not work in J&K. You will need either a postpaid connection or a local prepaid connection.

You’ll find ATMs in Gulmarg, but it's advised to carry enough cash with you.

Dal Lake: The jewel of Srinagar, the Dal lake is synonymous to a visit to Srinagar and almost a visual definition to the town. Spread over a straggling 26 sq.kms, it is the most photogenic stretch of this paradise on earth and undoubtedly also one of the most sought after of attractions.

Mughal Gardens: Built in the Mughal era, donning its majestic architecture, are the Mughal gardens. The garden is a combination of the Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Gardens & Chashm-e-Shahi. The most prominent feature of the gardens is its long stretches of cascading fountains making this a must see for every traveller.

Nishant Bagh: Laid out in 1633, Nishant Bagh is fondly known as the Garden of Joy. Its beauty is enhanced by the well-manicured landscapes, long avenues of Chinar & cypress trees, rare flowering plants, 12 terraces & several bubbling fountains that cover the whole expanse of the garden.

Shankaracharya Temple: Visit this effulgent, age old temple in Srinagar to feel closer to the gods. Situated at a height of about 1100 feet on the south-east of the city, this sacred temple offers splendid views of the valley and snow-clad mountains of the Pir Panjal range.

Hazratbal: Hazratbal Mosque, situated on the western shore of the pristine Dal Lake, is a sacred Muslim shrine in Hazratbal. Hazratbal's significance is derived from the fact that it houses an heir of the prophet Muhammad, a relic, titled Moi-e-Muqqadas. The relic is only displayed to the public on religious occasions, usually accompanied by colourful fairs afterwards. The shrine commands a grand view of the lake and the mountain beyond, especially when its pristine white marble elegance is reflected in the waters of the lake.


You will be provided with all the equipment needed for the skiing course - skis, ski poles, helmets, ski boots. If you have ski equipment for your own then you can carry the same for the course.

You can rent a fleece jacket, and a rucksack from us. In case you have any other requirements, you can talk to our representative and we will be happy to assist you in any way that we can.

You will receive your rented equipment at Gulmarg, on Day 1.

Our instructors will collect the rented equipment from you at the end of the course on the last day.

You can buy your essentials in Srinagar. However, it is advised to not leave anything for last-minute purchases.



As we’ll be staying in the hotels you’ll have proper toilet facilities.

In case you get your period during and don’t have sanitary napkins, our instructors can provide them to you. If you need any other kind of assistance, you can let our instructors know. Irrespective of gender, our team is gender sensitised and equipped to assist you in any way you need them to.

Since we will be staying in hotels, you will have access to electricity. It is, however, advised to carry power back-up in case of power cuts.


Since this is an advanced course in Skiing you should provide a basic and intermediate skiing course completion certificate, though not mandatory. A copy of your ID Proof (Aadhar card or any other government ID) and Medical Certificate are the mandatory documents required for this course. (Soft copies for all of these are to be sent to us & originals should be on your person during the course.)

Yes, insurance for any high-altitude activity is highly recommended to cover the cost of any emergency service required as well as to cover for medical cost in case of injury or illness during the activity. You can buy it on your own. Alternatively, if you want us to buy it on your behalf, you can speak to our post-booking team and they will arrange it for you. They will send you a payment link once the insurance has been purchased.

Yes, there are multiple permits required for this. We obtain the permits on every participant’s behalf. All the permit costs are included in your course fee.


Participants in our ski courses will be provided with a Certificate of Participation, Graduation and merit certificate with grades A/B/C to those who complete all lessons and pass the tests as well as a Certificate from J&K tourism.

On completion of the course, the certificate will show up on your dashboard on our website. You can download it directly from there.


Gulmarg is in India. If you are coming from outside, you will need a visa to enter the country. You should be able to find the rules for obtaining a Visa based on your home country on the internet. This information is easily available.

This does not apply to you if you are an Indian citizen. In case you don’t hold an Indian passport, you will need to check online for Visa application rules based on your home country.

If you are not an Indian citizen, you will need Travel Medical Insurance to travel to the country. Please make sure that your insurance policy is valid for the altitude you are going to and the activity you are undertaking, to cover risks during the activity. The insurance policy provided by Bikat Adventures does not cover foreign nationals. So, please do not purchase it while making the booking from our website.

Our batch sizes for Advance Skiing Course are capped at 12 with the participant to instructor ratio of 2:1.
