1. Miyar Valley

Starting from a village near Udaipur in Lahaul, the trail takes you through Miyar Valley - the Yosemite of the Himalayas. The trek is mostly an easy walk through a flora & fauna hotspot, past seven emerald glacial lakes. Accompanied by the Miyar River you cover vast pastures, wild-flowered grasslands and gushing glacial streams.

Duration – Six trekking days

Max Elevation – 13100 ft.

Difficulty – Moderate

Trek Distance – 60 kms

2. Kalihani Pass

In the midst of Dhauladhar range lies a trek which is a fraction of the well-known Bara Bangal trail, a trek gifted with boundless natural beauty which also manages to satiate the thrill-seekers.

Before reaching the high altitude pass, a physically demanding task in its own right, you are treated with mind-boggling lush green meadows, unbelievable diversity of flowers along with impressive views of the daunting peaks around. 

Duration – Seven trekking days

Max Elevation –15800 ft.

Difficulty –Moderate

3.  Ghepan Ghat

The trailhead for this trek lies past a village on the Manali-Leh Highway and leads to a stunning neon-blue lake surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks. Reaching the lake requires one to negotiate difficult river crossings and an extremely rugged & unmarked trail.

The fact that even local guides are not fully aware of its existence proves how untouched the lake really is!

Duration – Four trekking days

Difficulty – Moderate

4. Deo Tibba Base Camp

You may not feel prepared to take on an expedition to the peak of Mt. DeoTibba, but if you’re looking for a moderate level trek near Manali, you’re more than ready to witness the beauty that is DeoTibba Base Camp.

The trail is a feast for the eyes as it is home to diverse flora and fauna whilst the mighty Mt. DeoTibba is also visible throughout the trek.

Duration – Six trekking days

Difficulty – Moderate

5. Khanpara Tibba Trek

If you take the relatively easy sections of Kalihani Pass and piece it all together, you still don’t settle for anything short of a grand adventure! KhanparaTibba is a 13000 ft. The peak in the Dhauladhar range that is easily manageable if you are on the right side of the fitness-scale.

The path to the top zigzags through vast meadows on a flower-laden trail before you wade through glistening white snow. Once you make it to top, you get unparalleled views of the Beas river valley!

Duration – Three trekking days 

Max Elevation –13100 ft.

Difficulty – Easy

Trek Distance – 37 kms

Best Time to do the Trek – All-year-round

6. Shitidhar Peak

High-altitude peaks are supposed to be offbeat anyway, and we’ve got plenty of those near Manali but there are hardly off the beaten path. That’s not the case for Shitidhar peak though, a 17400 ft. non-technical expedition in Kullu District.

The expedition starts from Solang Valley and Beas Kundmagically appears en-route. It’s the perfect excursion for ardent adventurers!
