From legends to folk tales, mystical places always have a unique ambience around them. Just like the movies, when the main character enters, special effects take over to produce a grand effect. Be prepared to get amazed when you enter the enchanting trails of the sacred Bhrigu Lake trek. Nestled at 4,267M deep in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, this charming little lake is home to lush meadows, vibrant flowers, and rare flora & fauna. If you are planning to retrace your roots to the lap of nature in a short time, then nothing can come close to the 3-day Bhrigu Lake trek. It has a tinge of spirituality, freshness, and a plethora of experiences to be explored. In this article, we will take you through some exciting photographs and tales to give you a glance into the true essence of the trek.
1) Bhrigu Lake
Legend says that the holy sage Bhrigu meditated near this lake to get deep insights into the universe. True to its story, you are likely to feel a mystical connection and the presence of pure energy when around it. The villagers believe that ancient deities from the sky came down to take a dip in this special lake to increase its purity and divine prowess. So, to respect their beliefs, remove your shoes when you go near the lake. The beautiful Bhrigu lake changes its colour from olive green in summers to pearl white during winters.
2) The Sky Cape of Bhrigu Lake
A massive platform with a picture-perfect spot awaits you after a slight ascent from the Rola Kholi campsite. Here, you get an opportunity to become a part of the clouds. Stand where the sky and the land meet and strike your signature pose. A click at the conjunction point will be a perfect portrait to remember.
3) The Curtain of Clouds
Look up. Look up to the clouds. Check out the gentle whites of wisdom and subtle greys of depth. They represent the forms and flow of life. Like a sheet of white silk, they cover the entire landscape for a brief time and disappear without a trace. Walking between the magic clouds, you can feel the magic mist naturally cleansing your mind, body, and soul. Be wary though, they are mischievous and like to play hide and seek when we are on the trail.
4) The Host
Say hello to the fearless host, the Himalayan vulture. The journey to Bhrigu Lake trek begins from Gulaba village. As we drive from Manali to Gulaba, we come across some pine trees, apple trees, and huge vultures. These massive birds show their strong presence by sitting on the topmost branches of pine trees.
5) The Genus Sphenomorphus or the Common Skinks!
Beneath the dense grasslands and vibrant flowers of the Bhrigu Lake trek lives a stunning reptile, the Common Skink. They are extremely shy and rare to find. If you sit on one of the table rocks and wait patiently, they might reveal themselves to you. They are shy, but they are equally curious!
6) Aster Tataricus or Tatarinow’s Aster
This purple splendour is one of the commonly found flowers on the lively grasslands of the Bhrigu Lake trek. It is considered a vital ingredient in Chinese medicine. If you have a personal journal or a secret diary, this flower will be a perfect souvenir or a bookmark for your treasured memories. But remember to only pick up the ones that have already fallen, do not pluck them!
7) The View from Rola Kholi
Rola Kholi is an exceptional campsite with unparalleled views of peaks like Seven Sisters, Deo Tibba, Solang Valley, Hanuman Tibba, and Beas Kund Valley. When the sun sets, simmering orange shades cover the entire valley unveiling a warm scenery in front of us. The remarkable contrast here is to witness what the night has to offer. Millions of stars and stardust occupy the purple night sky and show us a fraction of the Milky Way.
Every story has three different sides to it. The spectacles mentioned above are our side of the story, and what you imagine from them is your side of the story. Though what we said is true to our experience of the place, we wish that you’d visit the lake to experience the actual side of the story. Feel free to connect with us in case of any queries.
