Dev Kyara Trek Photo Story

What exactly is trekking?

For some, it is simply a rendezvous with nature, some look at it as a challenge they want to overcome, some look for an escape from city life, for others, it is an emotion they look to experience.

Does not matter how you look at it. There are some treks which make you realize what life is when you let go of everything in search of something exotic. Without any expectations set foot into the unknown and let the natural beauty and wonder of the Himalayas take you to the paradise we all say it is.

Such is the Dev Kyara Trek which is absolutely raw and unspoiled by the crowd. Located in the Sankri region in Western Garhwal of Uttarakhand, this beauty is the best valley trek in the Indian Himalayas.

Loaded with a sensational trail alongside the Dibra Gad river that takes you through pine and oak forest, boulders, streams, flower-laden fields, massive meadows, numerous waterfalls, glorious campsites, uncountable waterfalls, snowfields, and several snowcapped peaks and passes, the Dev Kyara Trek is labelled as the "Trek of the Year - 2019" by Times of India.

Time to take you through the gallery of this quaint yet charming Devkyara Bugyal trek.

Day 1: Forest trail along the meandering Dibra Gad river to the religious Obra Gad

The trail starts from the converging point of Dibra Gad and Supin River and takes you on a gradual ascent to the Obra Gad campsite which has a religious significance to the locals.

Day 2: From dense forest to a humongous meadow - A change in scenery

Today will be a very interesting day in terms of change in the landscape. The trail takes you through dense pine and oak forests with maple trees, wild strawberries and wild mushrooms to eventually reach the campsite of Bhawa.

Bhawa is hands down one of the best campsites you will ever see in your life. With a charming waterfall cutting its way through the mountain in the background, the Bhawa campsite is a mind-blowing massive meadow with epic vistas around it. It is straight out of a fairytale.

With the trail taking you across numerous streams and boulder sections along with an alluring spread of colorful flowers, the day ends with the astounding Devkyara campsite located at the foot of a beautiful peak, Ranglana.

Surrounded by several unnamed snowcapped peaks and passes, the Dev Kyara campsite is the highlight of the trek.

One cannot fail to notice close to twenty waterfalls that present themselves all along the trail that makes you wonder if this is real or not.

Believe it or not, it is very much real.
