What are One Day Adventure Workshops ?

This is a workshop targeted at creating a short burst of thrill for students with a strong learning experience as an after effect. Bikat Adventure Day is a sequential game (a hunt) played by students, one at a time, after detailed briefing on each activity. Activities are sequentially set-up as part of a larger schema. Individual attention, Proper briefing, Ensured learning, and Outcome based approach, are the pillars of this workshop.

How Bikat is different ?

We don’t do a day event as a fair. We do it as a systematic experiential workshop. 3 most important factors that are different about us:

  1. Out of comfort zone - Life skills are put to use in all adventure activities, if done properly. The activity is specially designed for each student to have opportunities to come out of the comfort zone.

  2. Thrilling & Exciting memory – The whole activity is planned like a game. It isn’t a ride fair for kids to have joy rides. So, the game is on and when you add it with the extreme activities involved in the game, it becomes seriously thrilling.

  3. Learning Based – The whole activity is done in a way that every student must be able to learn the basics about the skills involved in every activity. Small groups, dedicated Guides for briefing, one at a time participation, and many other carefully designed aspects ensure that the day is full of learning.

The Concept & Structure

Basic idea of the workshop is to involve students in a competitive environment. Core of the workshop is a hunt that would be attempted by groups (1 at a time) through the day. Participants assemble at a common ground and groups formed using innovative energizers. The hunt is played at 2 levels:

  1. Individual Level – A score for each successful attempt would be given and time would be recorded for each student.
  2. Group Level - Each group would have a cumulative score. Idea is for all teams to compete to win.

Winning Criteria & Prizes

Winners would be decided at both levels, group and individual. 1st priority would be given to overall score and in case a tie is achieved, time taken would be the decider. So, the basic behaviour that is rewarded is completion of all activities without fouls and speed matters only at an advance level, where all basics are intact.

Winners in both categories would be awarded with exciting & adventurous prizes. Lets keep at least something as a secret for now :)

Critical Facts
  • 20 Students
  • 3
  • 2.5 Hours
  • 7 to 9
  • ₹1500 to ₹2500

Here’s how the hunt is structured

  1. Intro Briefing for 30 Mins – A detailed briefing of the group by the Chief Program Manager, who would be an advance mountaineer with at least 5+ years of delivering learning based adventure experiences. This briefing would be based on LD format (Lecture + Demo) and would be conducted for each activity that is part of the hunt.

  2. Revision of critical points – When a student approaches to attempt, he/she would be briefed again by the Activity In-Charge for 30 seconds revising the critical aspects of the activity for the student

  3. Attempt – The student starts her time attempt only after 30 seconds of mandatory revision (that would later by consistently reduced from overall time). Idea would be to complete the activity safely to qualify for the hunt winner. A fully successful attempt would give 100 points to the student. Any misses in technique would attract negative markings.

  4. Debrief – >This is not just a game but a learning experience. Group members would be debriefed by the Chief Program Manager so that they can realize the true experiences that they have just had.
