Your favourite Kashmir trail, now open in winter! Our Kashmir Great Lakes Winter Trek takes you to two of the largest lakes on the Kashmir Great Lakes trail in winter. The trek starts from Naranag and hikes up through snow covered pine forests to the frozen Gangabal and Nundkol lakes at the foot of Mt. Harmukh, and further to Kolesar Lake at 3800 m.
Arrival in Srinagar
Reach Srinagar by the afternoon and spend the evening exploring the town. Overnight in houseboats on Dal Lake.
Srinagar to Trunkhol via Naranag - 50 km Drive, 5 km Trek
We will drive towards the Srinagar-Let Highway to Naranag, from where our trek starts. We will hike through snow covered pine forests and meadows and set camp at Trunkhol.
Trunkhol to Gangabal via Nundkol - 7 km Trek
We will walk from the Trunkhol meadows to the frozen Nundkol and Gangabal lakes at the foot of Mt Harmukh - a wonderful place to camp in winters just next to Gangabal Lake!
Gangabal to Mahlish via Kolesar Lake - 10 km Trek
Today, we will walk to the meadows at Mahlish. On the way, we will pass another frozen lake not many people know about - Kolesar.
Mahlish to Srinagar via Chattergul - 8 km Trek, 35 km Drive
This is the last day of our trek. We will descend through pine forests to the roadhead at Chattergul. From here, we will drive to Srinagar. The trip ends here.
