|9||How To Reach Joshimath/Auli By Road||Cheaper option that involves a lot of road journey but is more or less streamlined. Volvo buses are easily available till Dehradun or Haridwar and from there, the sharing or reserve taxis can be hire easily. The shared taxi rates from Dehradun in a Sumo or Bolero can vary between INR 550 to 650 per seat depending upon where you sit in the car (middle and front always preferable). This journey should take around 8-9 hours in a taxi. There is bus facility also available which starts from Haridwar till Joshimath early in the morning & takes around 10-12 hours.|
|10||How To Reach Joshimath/Auli By Air & Road||If you are short on time but not on budget you can get a flight to Dehradun with a layover at Delhi airport. The journey should take around 8-9 hours in a taxi.|
|11||How To Reach Joshimath/Auli By Rail & Road||Another cost effective option but a bit uncomfortable since it involves changing mode of transport in Haridwar/Rishikesh or Dehradun. One can avail train facility till Dehradun or Haridwar as it is connected with all major cities of India. Haridwar or Dehradun to Joshimath is another 8-9 hours journey for which one can easily get shared taxi from Rispana Pul in Dehradun or Natraj chowk in Rishikesh but only early in the morning.|
|12||How To Reach Joshimath/Auli By Motorcycle||Another preferred way to reach Auli is on motorcycles. Evening tea will be followed by a learning based video session on skiing & one to one discussion with the instructors about the day’s review & plan for the next day.
The day will start typically at the same time as the previous one. We will practice the balancing with ski on. The basic technique of stopping that is side fall & recovery position would be practised follow by snow plough technique in a straight line. The snowplough is where the skis are in a "V" shape It is a very stable position, which also acts as a brake. It is the easiest way to start on the slopes & will practice for the entire session. Post lunch session is free for exploring with video session in the evening followed by next days briefing.
Today the lesson includes how to make turns in snow plough technique & how to stop or apply brakes using the same method.
