The Makalidurga trek is one of the most sought-after weekend treks from Bangalore. It is a one day trek that can be easily covered in 10 hours. The trail of this trek is lush green and offers great views of the nearby areas. The temple and the lake which fall on the trail are a must stop. The temple gives you a glimpse of the local culture and their beliefs. The lake which is shaped like the South American continent is a perfect spot to take pictures. At the peak, trekkers get a chance to dive into the rich history of the state. The Makaliadurga fort is considered of great historical and mythological importance. The overall experience of this trek is enriching and refreshing.

Day 1

Bangalore to Makalidurga Peak and back

Reach the Makalidurga railway station around 8 am. From the station, a short 2 km walk across the tracks will take you to the base of the trek. Start the trek and reach the top around 11 am. Take short stops especially at the temple and the lake. Once at the top, have a hearty lunch and explore the fort. After spending a few hours at the top, start your journey back towards the base. Reach the base by 6 pm. From here you can board trains or private vehicles back to Bangalore.

  • Our Expedition leaders are advanced mountaineering course qualified, specially trained in rescue procedures from NIM and certified first-aid responders.
  • Even our local guides are certified first-aid responders.
Eco-friendly Practices
  • Group sizes are capped at 15 people.
  • Batch sizes are capped at 250 people per trail per season.
  • We follow a rolling campsite model.
  • We are constantly exploring and introducing new trails to reduce the burden on existing ones.

For us, a successful summit is not about reaching the highest point of a mountain but about making it safely back to base.
