The Bhimashankar trek is a fast emerging weekend getaway trek from Pune and Mumbai. This trek is nestled in the Bhimashankar wildlife sanctuary and is home to the endangered large squirrel. The trail if this trek is mostly green with a few rocky patches. This trek can be easily done by beginners and if experienced trekkers are looking for a relaxing trek to do, they can also opt for it. This trek can be done via two trails i.e. via Shidi ghat or via Ganesh ghat.
Khandas Village to Khandas Village
We assemble at the base village of this trek, Khandas vilage and have a goof breakfast. Around 8 am we start our ascent via Ganesh ghat, this trail is steeper and has more rocky patches. We cross the dense forests and reach the peak around 12 pm. We have lunch here while enjoying the views and spotting some of the most unusual birds and animals. Around 3 pm we start descending to Khandas village. We reach Khandas by 5:30 pm.
No prior experience is required to do this trek.
